MacTara Limited is committed to providing quality products while maintaining a sustainable forest industry in the province of Nova Scotia.
In conjunction with the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources, MacTara Limited ensures forest sustainability through its Forest Stewardship Program. The dedication MacTara Limited demonstrates through its annual investments of up to $1,000,000 allows private landowners throughout the Province to benefit from a variety of silviculture treatments such as the planting of over 1,400,000 seedlings.
The MacTara Limited New ERA program is also another example of commitment towards sustainable forest management. Excellence, Refinement and Accountability (ERA) are at the basis of this program, which was developed and put in place by employees for auditing, monitoring and documenting all aspects of their forest operations.
As one of the only sawmills in Canada to make use of all wood by-products in an environmentally friendly way, MacTara Limited continues to strive for excellence by refining all aspects of forest operations and monitoring results in order to ensure accountability to all stakeholders of Nova Scotia's forests.
